Salary: £35,000-40,000 (depending on skills and experience) + benefits

Location: UK-based. Flexible/remote options are available – the role-holder needs to be based in the UK and spend at least 1 days a month in our Birmingham office (once pandemic restrictions are relaxed).

Working hours: Monday to Friday, (we’re happy to discuss flexible working hours, the majority of our clients have office hours of 10-6)

Overview

We are looking for a friendly, curious, enthusiastic Frontend Developer to join our team.

This person will be responsible for the frontend development of our website and digital product work, working closely with designers and analysts to ensure that our work delivers brilliant user experiences.

Role description

The Frontend Developer will be responsible for turning the work produced by our design team into user-facing production code, and for maintaining and improving on our existing front-end builds.

They will work closely with designers, backend developers and analysts to ensure that we are delivering high-quality, performant user experiences. There are aspects of the role that are client facing, so we’re looking for someone who will enjoy working collaboratively with our clients.

Accessibility, usability and performance are all central priorities for us and the Frontend Developer will have an important role in ensuring our work meets and exceeds user expectations in these areas.

The ideal person has:

  • experience working in an agency environment
  • a very good understanding of HTML, CSS, and browser capabilities
  • a deep understanding of JavaScript, and cross-browser compatibility (we use vanilla, Vue.js, and jQuery)
  • a high working knowledge of CSS preprocessors (we use Sass with a BEM methodology), and bundling tools such as Gulp or Webpack
  • experience working with Git (and, ideally, GitLab)
  • a strong sense of code quality, longevity and flexibility
  • a solid understanding of scalability and user experience
  • an interest in the visual capabilities of code (particularly in the areas of interface animation and interaction)
